About
50 kilometers south of the world-famous island resort of Boracay is
another island village that possesses pristine natural beauty and a
much better natural biodiversity. This island is called
Batbatan
Island (official name: Barangay Batbatan Island). The island
village is 10 kilometers away from the municipality of Culasi
in
the Province of Antique, Philippines. For the residents of
Culasi
and of the rest of the province, this place seems to be a country away
seldomly visited by non-residents. Being in the island, one
will
get the feeling of being out of civilization and being out in
the
forests, beaches and seas of the island, one will find him or herself
out of this world.
Unknown
to most of the residents of the mainland town of Culasi where the
island politically belongs, the island village of
Batbatan
posseses pristine natural beauty and rich biodiversity which
could
be awe- inspiring both to local and foreign visitors.
Well-known
to be the place of industrious fisherfolks who provide the
town with a large volume of its fish supply and income from the
sea-based industry, Batbatan's potentials as a tourism destination is
yet to be realized. Batbatan island awaits those who dare to take
the less-traveled path.
